VoltNest — EV Charging-Slot Finder

VoltNest is an EV charging-slot finder that shows nearby chargers, their real-time availability, distance, speed and price, and lets you reserve a time slot before you arrive — so you never pull up to find the bay occupied.

Role
Solo builder — problem to working prototype
Method
Location-aware UX design, prompt engineering
Scope
EV mobility, real-time charging reservations
The problem

Range anxiety doesn't end when you find a charger — it ends when you can actually use one

EV drivers can usually find a nearby charger easily enough. What they can't reliably tell is whether it's free, how fast it charges, and what it costs — until they've already driven there and found it occupied or slow.

Solution

VoltNest: charging sorted before you arrive, not after

DISCOVER

Nearby chargers, with the details that matter

Every nearby charger shows real-time availability, distance, charging speed and price together, instead of forcing a driver to check each separately.

COMPARE

Speed and price, not just proximity

Chargers are compared on more than distance — a slightly farther fast charger can beat a nearby slow one once speed and price are visible up front.

RESERVE

A reserved slot, before you arrive

Drivers reserve a time slot ahead of arrival, replacing the gamble of driving to a charger and hoping it's free.

Prototype

A working app, not just a flow diagram

VoltNest is built and live — charger discovery, comparison and slot reservation all work end to end in the prototype below.

Discovery
Problem discovery — originally scoped as one of four self-initiated AI concepts, then singled out to build in full.
Flow
Location-aware UX design — mapped the discover-compare-reserve flow so range anxiety is resolved before departure, not on arrival.
Prompts
Prompt engineering — wrote the prompts that rank chargers by a combination of speed, price and distance.
Build
Prototype — shipped as its own working, clickable app on Lovable.
